Being the illegitimate child of an extramarital affair, Yuko visits Tokyo for the first time after growing up in the countryside. There, she not only has to face the enmity of her father’s family but also gets the chance to meet her real mother for the first time. The first collaboration between Ayako WAKAO and director Yasuzo MASUMURA is shot in stunningly gorgeous colors. A conventional family drama on the surface, it still leaves room for some biting social commentary.
