Since its founding in 2004, SKIP CITY INTERNATIONAL D-Cinema FESTIVAL in Saitama has established itself as a crucial platform for spotting Japan’s emerging directing talents. NIPPON CONNECTION presents two award-winning films of last year’s festival, which focus on female characters.

Natsuki NAKAGAWA depicts the destructive activities of suicidal high school student Sumiko, who is blackmailing her classmate Hideaki out of revenge. The film unfolds a psychological analysis of a social environment characterized by hypocrisy.
