After the death of her husband, whom she only married for his money, Okane (Ayako WAKAO) is ostracized in her hometown. Only Seisaku, the model soldier, takes interest in her, and they soon fall in love with each other. The fear of losing him to the Russo-Japanese war eventually leads to Okane taking very desperate measures… Without restraint, depicts the hypocrisy of a society leaning on a hollow sense of honor.
