Kagura refers to the performance of traditional Shinto music and dance. In the northeastern part of Japan, the Kuromori Kagura Troupe has been visiting the villages of Iwate Prefecture for more than 340 years, providing repose for the souls of the deceased and encouragement for the living. This film takes us on a fascinating journey into a country where gods, spirits, and demons still roam.

Directors' Bio
Kano ENDO was born in Ibaraki Prefecture in 1980. After studying cultural anthropology, he enrolled at the Film School of Tokyo. Since 2012, he has been working for a documentation project initiated by the town of Miyako in Iwate Prefecture. Thus, most of his recent films explore the situation of the regions devastated by the 2011 Tohoku earthquake. Mirai OSAWA, born in Tokyo in 1981, studied photography at Nihon University College of Art and documentary filmmaking at the Film School of Tokyo. He too has been a contributor to the documentation project mentioned above since 2014.
