Bingata Workshop

  • Duration: approx. 2 hours
  • Workshop in Japanese with German translation

Roughly 40 years ago, the artist Yusuke YOKOI learned the traditional ingata dyeing technique on the island of Okinawa. Using stencils and colored rice pastes, patterns are transferred onto fabrics. These patterns are often inspired by Okinawan nature. Today, Bingata is a symbol for the regional identity of the islanders. Anyone eager to dye textiles themselves will have the opportunity to do so at Yusuke YOKOI’s workshop.
