Yukinojo, a famous female impersonator in kabuki theatre, is driven by his desire to avenge his parents’ deaths. He uses the affection of Namiji (Ayako WAKAO), the daughter of one of their tormentors, to get closer to his goal. A brilliant showcase for Kazuo HASEGAWA, who plays two roles at once, this revenge story is presented as a spectacle of heightened theatricality. Especially Kon ICHIKAWA’s mastery of the scope frame makes this film a captivating experience.
